Midwinter Meeting
Saturday January 30th
11 am - 2 pm
Midwinter means it's time to finalize crop
plans and order seeds for the upcoming
season. Come put in your two cents about
what you want to see in your share box this
season. Which variety of winter squash
should we add this year? Should we stick
with yellow pear tomatoes, or try a new
"black cherry" instead? Which of the dozens
of varieties of greens would be the perfect
addition to our salad mixes? Curl up by the
wood stove with a cup of hot cider and some
seed catalogs, chat with other members, and
share your preferences for final crop
selections. We'll also enjoy a potluck lunch
and weather permitting, a short winter hike
and ice skating or sledding!
May Day Planting
Sunday May 2nd
10:30 am - 1:00 pm
Spring is all about planting! The soil is
warming and it's time to put thousands
of seeds and baby plants into the ground.
Join us on the farm to learn about how
our crops get started and some basics of
soil science and crop rotation. Help plant
seeds and seedlings in the ground, try
your hand at identifying what those little
plants will grow into, and pitch in to
build this year's fearless scarecrow. We'll
also tour the greenhouse and fields to
see what's growing and enjoy a potluck
lunch at the farmhouse.
Summer Solstice Celebration
2 pm Saturday June 26th -
11 am Sunday June 27th
** Click here for more info **
There is no better way to kick off summer
than our annual summer solstice celebration.
Join us down at Frog Hollow for an afternoon
of hiking, lounging, frog racing, horseshoes,
badminton, swimming and other fun, followed
by a barbecue dinner and bonfire. Pitch your
tent to camp out under the stars and enjoy
Sunday breakfast the next morning. In the
words of CSA member Ben Reilly, "I don't
ever want to miss this!"
Midsummers Day Share Harvest
Saturday August 7th
8 am - 12 pm
(Must arrive by 9 am to complete picking
before it gets too hot!!)
By midsummer the fields are bursting with a
rainbow of fresh, delicious vegetables. For
this special day, CSA members are invited to
come down and harvest their own weekly
shares. Yes it's early, but it's also lots of fun
and a great experience to watch your box fill
up with vegetables you've chosen, picked and
washed yourself. And when the work is done,
enjoy a picnic lunch and a jump in the pond
or other fun on the farm.
(Members who choose not to participate will
still receive their regular delivery).
Harvest Home Festival
Sunday September 26th
10 AM - 2 PM
With fall comes changing colors, crisp
air and a seasonal harvest bounty of
root and storage crops. Celebrate all of
this and the nearing end of the CSA
season at our annual Harvest Home
event. Climb aboard for a
tractor-drawn hay ride around the farm,
stopping off in the fields for a fall
garden tour and pick-your-own
pumpkins. Up at the farmhouse, enjoy
local cider and snacks, seasonal
activities and a potluck lunch. We will
also have our annual harvest sale
featuring homemade food, farm gear
and other items.
